My remit on this project, aside from the visual renovations, was search engine optimisation, and to structure the content and mark-up of the site to drive more visitor to customer conversions. The site will launch formally in mid January 2011.

The Curling Results Service has evolved over the past 11 years, and has been used in a wide range of tournaments, from the World Curling Champsionship at Breahead in 2000, to Perth Masters, European Senior Championship at Greenacres and Edinburgh Internationals at Murrayfield, Edinburgh.

The Curling Results Service can be integrated in with the Contao CMS system, and upon request into any other other CMS or bespoke website. Please contact me for information and pricing.

This website was built using the Magento e-commerce application, and designed by adapting a basic theme. The menu and strap line text is styled using Cufon – a javascript technique for displaying text in a custom font, without having to create images for each piece of text. The need for this sort of technique will reduce over time, as the CSS3 specification caters for web fonts and – subject to licensing – websites can allow clients to download the font for use with the website.

This was my first delve into Magento, and I have say that I was very impressed with the breadth and depth of the administrator interface, and the reporting that comes out that back end.
